Chad Hannaford wears many hats at HeartLife. Not only is he a licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider, he also serves as the organization’s Therapeutic Services Director. His daily interaction with the leadership team and staff counselors helps streamline and maximize the many services and resources offered at HeartLife.
A 2007 graduate of Mississippi College, Chad earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He obtained his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from The University of Memphis in 2015. Between degrees, he practiced at various mental health facilities, and then completed his practicum and internship at Parkwood Behavioral Health System.
Chad specializes in a multidisciplinary approach, treating both adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and substance abuse. He is also a marriage counselor, as well as the leader of Restore, which is an intensive therapy group designed to help clients recover from life-altering events.
He is well-versed in interventional therapy; treating individuals and couples who have not had successful therapeutic experiences in the past. His approach to interventional therapy includes not only crisis treatment, but also diagnosing and administering the appropriate regimen.
Chad is passionate about his faith and relies on his relationship with God to guide him in his practice. He understands how physical, spiritual, and emotional health are critical and treats the whole person.
While Chad didn’t always know clinical counseling would be his career path, he did know he had a God-given gift for communication and a passion for helping people. When he put those two together, it seemed only logical to pursue the field of psychology. A decision he has considered a blessing in his life. A life he shares with his wife of over a decade, and his two sons.
