Welcome to HeartLife

Welcome to HeartLife Professional Soul-Care’s website. As you browse this site, it willring become clear to you that we are Distinctively Christian and Unapologetically Biblical in our approach. We have chosen the term soul-care over counseling because it more accurately describes the comprehensive relational model of caring, found in the Christian traditions and Holy Scriptures.

HeartLife is structured unlike most Christian Counseling organizations. We operate under the oversight of local churches to ensure that the care we provide is doctrinally and theologically sound. Our Board of Directors consists of pastors and lay leaders who ensure that our organization is financially accountable and that we maintain a ministry motive. It is our hope to influence other Christian Counseling organizations to join us in supporting the local church with this level of ecclesiastical accountability, for the Glory of God and the furtherance of His Kingdom.

HeartLife clinicians are licensed professionals. While we have been trained in the psychological sciences, we fully ascribe and attest to a biblical worldview. Secular clinicians operate from a system of theories and assumptions of mankind – many of which are diverse and inconsistent (often described as a loose eclecticism). There are a number of psychologies from which the secular clinician may choose. Confusion is often the result when Christians seek help from counselors operating from a worldview in contrast to their own. We view the term psychology as the Bible does – the study of the soul. Our approach is to view soul-problems from a biblical anthropology – not a philosophy developed by man.

Some Christian or Biblical Counselors reject all aspects of medical or psychological science. That is not our position. It is our contention that good science will reveal and support the truths in God’s inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word. We work closely with Christian Physicians when medical issues may cause or contribute to psychospiritual problems.

It is our mission to support the local church as the authoritative institution for the cure and care of souls. Thank you for allowing us to introduce ourselves to you.

Statements of Support for HeartLife

Pastor Erik “Christian counseling that is really Christian is a lot harder to find than one would think. The counselors at HeartLife are committed to making the counseling they provide biblical and at the same time they work with the highest clinical and professional standards. I’ve known the director, Chuck Hannaford, for a number of years, and I have personally benefitted from his commitment to distinctly Christian counseling.”
Dr. Eric Johnson, Director of the Society for Christian Psychology, Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
Hal Kitchings “I have found Dr. Chuck Hannaford to be extremely real…’down to earth.’ If you desire genuine, biblically based, care for the soul, I highly recommend HeartLife Professional Soul-Care. Germantown Baptist has witnessed sincere life change through this viable ministry.”
Dr. Hal Kitchings, Pastor Germantown Baptist Church
ken The issues surrounding what makes counseling “Christian” are many. The call to bring soulcare back into the realm of the local church and equip the church to provide the kind of care necessary for today’s culture has been Chuck’s passion and study for many years now. His critique of these issues and the solutions that he proposes are worthy of today’s church’s study and reflection. Chuck is passionate not only about helping churches, but also individuals, to be holy and healthy spiritually and emotionally for the glory of God.
Ken Whitten, Idlewild Baptist Church, Lutz, FL
Pastor Sam “Chuck Hannaford leads the pack among Christian and Baptist psychologists. His commitment to the Gospel of Christ, to the authority found only in Holy Scripture, and clinical acumen are a rare combination.”
Dr. Sam R. Williams, , Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary
